Del Rio Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was founded on September 1, 1969 by Harold and June Pettitt. The Pettitt’s purchased the old Del Rio Hospital property and converted it into a 60-bed private and Medicaid nursing facility. During this time, under the name Del Rio Nursing Facility, our reputation for delivering quality, compassionate care was first established. In 1995, Care Inn Properties, Inc., founded by Stan Studer, purchased the Del Rio Nursing Facility in an effort to expand their leadership in providing premier long-term care for loved ones throughout the Southwest, and beyond. Care Inn Properties continued to expand services here by adding a special care rehabilitation unit in 2002, named the Nell Gardner Unit. At that time, the name of our community was changed to the Del Rio Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as it is known today. In 2005, Care Inn Properties, Inc. changed their name to Touchstone Communities. So now our community, with a long history of caring for so many so well throughout the years, continues this reputable tradition and is now known as a Touchstone Community.
